In Season: Summer Produce

Summer is here, and some of my favorite fruits and veggies are at their peak. I think being born in July may influence my love of all things summer, but who doesn’t love a juicy slice of cold watermelon.  ?

There are lots of reasons to eat seasonal produce – saves money, more flavor, better quality, supports local markets – but the biggest one is variety. Eating a large variety of fruits and vegetables helps to create diversity in the microbiome, i.e. good gut bacteria. A diverse microbiome = a healthy gut, and a healthy gut = a healthy body.
